The Community Service Committee is at the heart of our mission to create a positive impact. It identifies pressing local needs and manages initiatives that address social, environmental, and humanitarian issues. From empowering underserved communities to spearheading environmental conservation projects, this committee focuses on delivering meaningful and sustainable solutions.
Some featured projects include the following:
The Nahr El Kalb Tunnel was one of the most dangerous roads for nighttime drivers, with a high risk of accidents due to poor visibility and the absence of electricity or reflectors. In collaboration with Warm Hearts NGO, we raised funds and installed 180 pavement markers to enhance road safety.
An award-winning initiative featured at the Zone 21B Rotary Institute 2023 and proudly sponsored by AUF, dedicated to breaking down gender barriers and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for girls in the STEM fields, particularly in Lebanese public schools. The project hosts bright young girls, delving into over 10+ topics over the course of 1-2 days' worth of hands-on workshops.
In the wake of the devastating war, Rotaract Sahel Metn provided vital aid to displaced families across Lebanon, distributing food parcels, individual meals, as well as school bags, blankets, and boxes of clothing. We also supplied bedding to shelters and supported relief efforts through personal contributions and partnerships, ensuring comfort and sustenance amid the crisis.
Embrace is the first and only suicide hotline in Lebanon. Our Club has contribted since 2023 donations and helped spread more awareness on mental health.
Sow and Grow is an ongoing initiative by Rotaract Sahel Metn in partnership with AFDC, focused on environmental sustainability through community-led tree-planting efforts. In its first edition, 100 seedlings were planted in Sin El Fil, Riverside Road, with the support of Scouts Guides Mont La Salle, strengthening our commitment to a greener Lebanon.
The Rotary Club of Sahel Metn, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Sahel Metn, has made a lasting impact on the children of the Home of Hope through an annual tradition of taking the children out for a special lunch. Home of Hope is a remarkable initiative that provides care, shelter, and education for children in Lebanon who come from challenging circumstances, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.
Every year since 2020, the Rotary and Rotaract clubs of Sahel Metn unite under the banner of ‘Fellowship through Service’ and ‘Service Above Self.’ In collaboration, they continue their commitment to education through the Rotary Funds for Future (RFF) initiative, ensuring students of a deserving school receive high-quality education by covering their tuition fees.
For years, the Rotaract Club of Sahel Metn, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Sahel Metn, has brightened the holiday season for the children of Birds’ Nest Armenian Orphanage. This cherished tradition creates lasting memories and fosters a strong sense of community. Through this initiative, the clubs continue to bring joy and support to the children each year.
Since 2022, Rotaract Sahel Metn and Rotaract De Beyrouth Millennium have upheld a cherished tradition of visiting a different elderly shelter each year around Christmas. Through shared moments, warm conversations, and free dental and general health check-ups, we bring care, comfort, and companionship to our senior community, embodying the true spirit of service.
